Job Description:
Job Title: Medical Technologist (Generalist)
Location: Scott City, KS 67871.
Shift Schedule: 4 x 10-hour Day Shifts (Exact shift hours may vary slightly by department need)
Duration:13 Weeks (Possible extension depending on business needs).
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week.
Pay Range: $50/hr - $54 per hour on a W2.
Responsibilities:
Perform clinical laboratory testing in all major areas: chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, blood bank, and immunology.
Collect, label, and process biological specimens accurately and efficiently.
Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
Validate and analyze test results to ensure accuracy prior to reporting.
Adhere to internal and regulatory protocols (CAP, CLIA, OSHA) for quality and safety.
Accurately document findings in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to support patient care.
Participate in proficiency testing, quality control reviews, and inventory management.
Skills/Experience Needed:
Minimum of 1 year of recent hospital laboratory experience as a generalist.
Comfortable working in a rural facility and multitasking across lab disciplines.
Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small lab team.
Familiarity with EMR/LIS systems (experience with Meditech preferred).
Willingness to cover weekend/holiday/on-call shifts as needed.
Education:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Certifications:
ASCP or AMT Certification (or certification eligible) – Required.
Active Kansas Clinical Lab Technologist License (or eligibility for KS licensure) – Required.
BLS Certification (American Heart Association) – Required.
