Job Description:
Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Norfolk, VA 23502
Shift Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts)
Duration: 13 Weeks (Possible extension depending on business needs)
Guaranteed Hours: 35 hours/week
Pay Range: $45/hr – $52 per hour on a W2
Responsibilities:
Perform routine and emergency respiratory therapy procedures in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
Operate ventilators and other respiratory support equipment for patients requiring continuous or intermittent respiratory care.
Assess, monitor, and document patient response to therapy; adjust treatment plans as needed.
Administer therapeutic procedures including oxygen therapy, nebulized medications, chest physiotherapy, and suctioning.
Conduct arterial blood gas sampling and analysis, interpreting results to guide patient care.
Ensure proper setup, operation, and maintenance of all respiratory therapy equipment; report any malfunctions promptly.
Adhere to infection control standards and safety protocols in all aspects of patient care.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other care team members to ensure quality respiratory care.
Educate patients and families on equipment use and respiratory health, when appropriate.
Skills/Experience Needed:
Minimum 1 year of recent, hands-on experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
Strong understanding of respiratory therapy procedures, ventilator management, and oxygen delivery systems.
Comfortable working independently on 12-hour night shifts (7 PM to 7 AM) in a hospital or transitional care setting.
Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Education:
Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent – Required
Bachelor’s Degree – Preferred
Certifications:
Current state Respiratory Care Practitioner License – Must have license in hand at time of submittal
RRT Credential – Required
BLS (American Heart Association) – Required
ACLS – Preferred
COVID-19 Vaccination per facility policy – Required
