CSR – Medical Support (Customer Service) - VHA

Job Description:
Job Title: CSR – Medical Support (Customer Service)
Location: Sheridan, WY 82801
Shift Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8-hour shifts between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Duration: 13 Weeks (Possible extension depending on business needs)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
Pay Range: $17 per hour on a W2

Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Lead Scheduler and scheduling/reception team to maintain competency and professionalism.

Coordinate veteran care and authorize community provider services when VA care is unavailable or delayed.
Communicate VA Community Care policies to internal medical providers.
Process and integrate medical records and patient information into CPRS and VISTA systems.
Manage community care consults via HSRM, PPMS, and related systems.
Screen and respond to phone calls promptly and courteously.
Perform appointment scheduling, tracking, and pre-/post-appointment contacts.
Validate and update patient demographic and insurance information accurately.
Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, VA staff, contractors, physicians, fellows, and residents.
Report system malfunctions and other issues to the contracting supervisor.
Support Patient Aligned Care Team and other duties as assigned.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, safety, and IT security policies.
Complete all required VA training and maintain compliance with TJC and facility standards

Skills/Experience Needed:
Strong oral and written English communication skills.

Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
Minimum typing speed of 50 WPM.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
At least 6 months of customer service experience.
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently, maintain professionalism, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
Familiarity with VA software systems (CPRS, VISTA, CTM, VetLink, HSRM, PPMS) preferred.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED – Required


Certifications:
Typing speed of at least 50 WPM – Required
Basic knowledge of medical terminology – Required
COVID-19 vaccination required per facility policy (medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation)
