Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract assignment. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced emergency department, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses and traumatic injuries. Strong critical-thinking skills, rapid assessment abilities, and effective teamwork are essential for this role.


Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency nursing care to patients of varying acuity levels

  • Perform rapid assessments, triage, and prioritize patient care based on severity

  • Initiate and manage IV therapy, medications, and emergency interventions

  • Administer medications and manage drips, including heparin, magnesium, and potassium riders

  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to emergent changes in patient condition

  • Assist with trauma resuscitations, codes, and emergency procedures

  • Collaborate with physicians, paramedics, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Meditech

  • Adhere to all hospital policies, emergency protocols, and patient safety standards


Patient Population

  • Adult and geriatric emergency patients

  • Common presentations include chest pain, respiratory distress, sepsis, stroke, trauma, abdominal pain, and behavioral health emergencies

  • Patient assignments based on acuity and departmental needs


Requirements

  • Active New York State RN license

  • Minimum one successful travel assignment completed (first-time travelers not considered)

  • BLS and ACLS certifications required

  • PALS preferred (or required, if applicable)

  • Meditech experience required

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

  • Strong critical-thinking, communication, and multitasking skills

  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure, rapidly changing situations
